Kheer Recipe

Inquiring minds want to know! The students LOVED the kheer (Indian rice pudding) and a few have requested the recipe for home. This is what I have:

Whole Milk-1 Liter
Sugar-6 Tablespoons 
Rice- 4 Tablespoons

To Taste:
Cardamom Pods(about 6)
Nuts
Raisins
Saffron (pinch)

Put milk and rice in the slow cooker, on high, for several hours, until the rice looks about cooked. Stirring occasionally.  
Stir in the sugar, nuts, raisins, and saffron and allow to cook for another hour or so.
Allow to cool before serving.  It will be very hot.  May also be eaten cold from the refrigerator.
